July 2002
Bad Doberan, Germany

On July 25, 2002 the Ed Palermo Octet (unfortunately, our brass section did not come due to financial restrictions) flew to Bad Doberan, Germany to take part in the 13th edition of the annual Zappanale Festival. This festival is put on by the German-run Arf-Society. The festival ran for 3 days, July 26-28. It also included an unveiling ceremony of a FZ sculpture that was created by a Czech artist. The bust is on permanent display in the center of Bad Doberan.

2002's festival included a great line up of FZ cover bands from all over Europe & the USA. And also featured many FZ alumni including: Ike Willis, Mike Keneally, Scott Thunes, Bob & Thana Harris, Jimmy Carl Black, Bunk Gardner, Don Preston, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Roy Estrada and others including Frank's sister, Candy.
